How To Keep Rug Corners Down

How To Keep Rug Corners Down

A rug that doesn’t stay where it should, can look incredibly messy…

In fact, I would go so far as to say that flooring that looks too busy, with curling or overturned rugs can be really off-putting, and it’s not what you want to see when you arrive home from a long day at work, when you just want to sit back and relax.

Your home is your sanctuary, and when preparing to wind down in the evening you don’t want to look around and see only tasks to do, such as tidying up and so on.

But there is one easy thing you can do to make the room that bit more serene and peaceful, which is to secure your rugs in place so that they don’t start to curl, and the corners remain firmly in their rightful place.

And, what’s more, keeping rug corners down has other benefits besides improving your home’s aesthetic…

Did you know that, according to the NSC, a whopping 53.6 percent of all injury-involved accidents occur at home? That’s a frightening statistic, right? And you know what I think? I think a great deal of these accidents are avoidable.

I mean, how many times have you walked into a room, only to trip on the rug, either because it has gathered up in one place, or because the corner isn’t secured?

And if you happen to have bulky furniture near the rug’s corner, as many people often do, you may find that when you or one of your loved one trips on the corner of the rug, they end up launching themselves into said furniture, and hurting themselves.

But the good news is that such problems are actually pretty easily solved, and you don’t have to think out of the box to find a solution, or find such a powerful adhesive that it will ruin either the rug or your flooring or both.

I’ve been scouring the net looking for the best ways to keep rug corners down, and I’m here to share my findings with you.

I got hold of several rug grippers and tried them out at my home, so that you don’t have to. Here’s my favorite…

Gorilla Grip Extra Strong Rug Pad Gripper

The Gorilla Grip extra strong rug pad gripper is a prominent bestseller with the leading online retailers in the category of rug pads.

What’s more, it has seen excellent customer ratings and reviews - even after well over 35,000 individual customer ratings on Amazon, the average customer rating still comes out at a whopping 4 and a half stars out of a possible 5 stars.

Pretty impressive, hey?

This rug pad gripper has also earned the title of Amazon’s Choice in the category of “non-slip runner pad”. Such a title is only given to products that are both of excellent quality and are also available at a good, reasonable price.

The reason it’s so effective is because it’s meant to go under the majority of the rug, rather than just the corners.

That way it keeps the whole rug in place, so in addition to keeping the corners down, it will also prevent any curling or bunching elsewhere. Great way to keep the rug looking great as well as preventing trip hazards.

It has an extra strong grip, and provides thick cushioning for real comfort. And at the same time, it’s built to really last, and will take a lot of general wear and tear. All the while remaining completely hidden from sight at all times.

It’s available in a range of different sizes, from 2 by 3 foot all the way through to 10 by 14 feet. And it’s even available in round shapes as well.

Amazon occasionally has deals on this rug gripper, simply click on check price to see if there just so happens to be a deal on now. When this article was written, you could save a whopping 50% off the regular listing price!

My experience with it: I just loved this rug pad gripper - it kept my rug securely in place. I really put it to the test, and it just didn’t budge. Would definitely recommend it!

Sollifa Rug Corner Grip

The great thing about these corner grips is that they only need to go under the corners, so you don’t have to worry about getting it perfectly under the whole rug.

And there are 12 grips in the pack, so you can use one pack for up to 3 square or rectangular rugs.

You simply remove the backing and adhere them to the underside of the rug’s corners, thus preventing tripping over the corners, and sliding and bunching.

And if you don’t want to use the full grip in each corner, you can cut them to a smaller size.

Pros

  • You get a total of 12 grips in just one pack
  • Prevents trips, sliding and bunching

My Experience With It

I did really like these corner grips, but not as much as liked the Gorilla Grip one, and I was disappointed that I struggled to remove the pads afterward.
